‘Alaskan Bush People’ News: Billy Brown Celebrates 66th Birthday

Happy birthday, Billy! The “Alaskan Bush People” patriarch turned 66 years old last Monday, Dec. 3. While Billy’s birthday celebration was seemingly a private affair, his third son Bear took to Instagram to greet his dad on his special day. Bear Brown wrote a lengthy and emotional tribute for Billy as he shared a candid photo.

“Today is my Dad’s 66th birthday!” the reality star wrote. “If not for him I would not be the same person that I am today. He has taught me to always stand up for what I believe in! To never lie cheat or steal! To always put others above myself! To never give up! And to always try my hardest!”

Bear, who has recently been quite active on social media, went on to call his father a “living legend.” His post got a lot of response from “Alaskan Bush People” fans, who also wrote their own greetings and stories about what they learned from Billy Brown.

“Your daddy is one fantastic man and one fantastic father,” one fan commented. “He raised all you children with respect, love, [and] kindness.”

Billy’s birthday celebration comes amid rumors of tension within the Brown family as Matt continues to recover from his alcohol addiction. It was previously reported that Billy has been pushing his eldest son to work with a sober coach, who will make sure he will stick to his rehabilitation program round the clock. However, Matt has reportedly refused Billy’s suggestion, much to his siblings’ dismay.

Billy’s life has been an open book since “Alaskan Bush People” premiered in 2014. The reality-documentary show features his family’s determination to live in the wild amid difficult physical challenges. But Billy’s love for the outdoors and his unconventional lifestyle started long before the show aired. Though he was born to a privileged family, Billy decided to make it on his own and take up odd jobs, before choosing to raise a family in the Alaskan bush when he met his wife Ami. Aside from being a reality star, Billy is also an accomplished author and has published several books.
