The dust of the Paris Olympics was yet to clear when an epic drama was born. What was the problem? Oh, just that USA gymnast Jordan Chiles must return her bronze medal after it was found that her coach complained a few seconds too late.
Let’s ignore the fact that Chiles wouldn’t have needed the review had the judges ranked her difficulty correctly the first time. Let’s also ignore the fact that the judges could have rejected the request on account that it came late.
Let’s just concentrate on the fact that Chiles was grinning and celebrating with her bronze medal after the sporting competition concluded, only to be surprised by the IOC declaring that she must return it a few days later. Wanna know the latest on this whole drama? We’ve got you.
Romanian Gymnast Ana Barbosu Gets Her Own Bronze Medal
After days filled with controversies and endless arguments, it seems that the whole Jordan Chiles bronze medal saga has finally come to an agreeable conclusion.
Per USA Today Sports’ Christine Brennan, Chiles will be keeping her medal. However, this does not mean that the IOC had a change of heart and bumped her back up to her third position. No, they’ve instead decided to award Ana Barbosu with another bronze and celebrate her in a ceremony held on Friday, Aug. 16.
Even though the US vowed to fight for Chiles – and they did try their best – it apparently wasn’t enough to sway the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s mind regarding the issue.
“We are deeply disappointed by the notification and will continue to pursue every possible avenue and appeal process, including to the Swiss Federal Tribunal, to ensure the just scoring, placement, and medal award for Jordan,” the organization posted on Monday.
The body doubled down on Tuesday, writing, “As we continue to celebrate the successes of Team USA Gymnasts on social media, know that we are still working full-time to pursue justice for Jordan.

Jordan Chiles Reacts To IOC Demands Over Her Bronze Medal
On Thursday, the 23-year-old gymnast reacted to the enormous controversies for the first time, sharing her disappointment over the development.
“I am overwhelmed by the love I have received over the past few days,” Chiles wrote on social media. “I have no words. This decision feels unjust and comes as a significant blow, not just to me, but to everyone who has championed my journey.”
She further shared her hopes “that at the end of this journey, the people in control will do the right thing.”
Happily, Chiles not only gets to keep her trophy, but has also been gifted a one-of-a-kind bronze clock by US rapper Flavor Flav.
