Oprah Backtracks On Her Statements About Kamala Harris
According to the latest reports, Oprah scrambles to clarify herself after she said on camera that she was not paid $1M by the Harris campaign, says the payment was for production costs.
It’s also been noted that Oprah was confronted earlier this week by TMZ & claimed that reports she was paid $1M by Harris were false.
It’s also now being reported that Oprah says that the $1M payment was in fact made but it was paid to her production company Harpo.
She said, “My time and energy was my way of supporting the campaign. For the live-streaming event in September, my production company Harpo was asked to bring in set design, lights, cameras, microphones, crew, producers, and every other item necessary (including the benches and chairs we sat on) to put on a live production.”

She continued, “I did not take any personal fee. However the people who worked on that production needed to be paid. And were. End of story.”
Of course, the internet certainly did have a lot to say about it. Some even commented with, “I just built a house for less than half that, and it involved 6 months and multiple crews working 5 days a week. She fleeced the Dems for $1 mill for some chairs and lights for an evening?! Well played Oprah, well played.”
Another critic wrote, “The fact that all these celebrities didn’t endorse her because they liked her, but endorsed because they got PAID is telling of what SELL OUTS they are!!”
“Makes sense, Oprah didn’t get paid. Harpo, Oprah’s company got paid. Wealthy people logic.”
And then there was this comment as well: “Imagine saying with a straight face that you were not paid. Your production company you are the sole officer of was paid but for well worth the money rental of chairs and camera equipment. I have a house full of furniture and cameras. Send 1M directly here. Do not pass GO.”

I find this statement an insult to my intelligence. The cost alone that she said was paid for the live set up was astronomical. If this is the going pay for those employees involved in the set, another film would never be produced!
I hold that payment, even if made to HARPO, was for Opra’s appearance. If not, I think that a comparison of costs of actual labor and equipment (without considering Ms. Winfrey’s presence) for live performances prior to the one in question be compared to the costs of earlier setup costs minus Ms Winfrey. I feel certain the the costs aren’t in the ballpark of each other and that Ms Winfrey paid herself out of the supposed cost of the production. Depending on the IRS tax status, she paid herself as an employee of the company or embezzled money from the Corp.
It’s the same game oprah loves to play, when she interview Harry and megan, oprah, Harry and megan said they weren’t getting paid for the interview. Yeah, like all 3 of them are going to do that interview FREE
