Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson Involved in A DUI Chase That Landed Her Boyfriend In Jail

The reality star, Alana Thompson, most popularly known as Honey Boo Boo, was in the car in the DUI chase that got her boyfriend Dralin Carswell arrested.

PEOPLE Confirms Honey Boo Boo Was in the Car During the Three-mile Police Chase With Carswell

According to PEOPLE, police confirmed that the 17-year-old star’s boyfriend Dralin Carswell was arrested on Tuesday for DUI, fleeing police, and for outstanding warrants following a three-mile chase in Monroe County, Georgia.
Even though Thompson was in the car during the chase, she was not charged with any wrongdoing and was only made a witness to the case.

After the news initially broke in the local media outlet The Reporter, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Lt. John Thompson confirmed it to PEOPLE.

Per the report released by The Reporter, the police chase took place around 4:30 on Tuesday when an officer ran the tag of a Dodge Charger in front of a gas station on Highway 24. When the officer found out that the vehicle owner had a warrant under his name, they proceeded to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped north.

The authorities revealed that the officer eventually used a PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver, spinning the car and disabling it near Hickman Road.

Carswell, 21, was arrested for several road-related offences, including failure to maintain lanes, DUI, fleeing from authority, and others.
Another passenger in the vehicle at the time, Julian Malik Divon Williams, 24, was also arrested due to outstanding warrants.

Thompson’s sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, who is now her sole custodian, reportedly picked her up at Monroe County Jail.

The reality star has dated Carswell for two years now, and apart from mentioning their relationship in a few Interviews, they have mainly kept it out of the spotlight.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, she revealed that Carswell was her only friend, because she didn’t have the luxury of making friends due to her celebrity status. “To be honest, I do not have many friends. At all,” she said. “Because I feel like folks are so much like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m friends with Honey Boo Boo.”
