History Channel’s long-running series American Pickers is facing more cancellation rumors. The show plummeted in the ratings. The constant schedule shakeup is doing more harm than good. Keep on reading to learn more.
Fate of American Pickers Revealed
According to a new report, American Pickers has been picked up for three more seasons. The History Channel series aired Season 25 and is currently filming Season 26.
The series is no longer the hot series on the History Channel. That doesn’t mean the network is giving up on it, despite the low ratings.
Mike Wolfe stars on the show alongside his fellow cast members Robbie Wolfe and Danielle Colby. In Season 25, Jon Szalay joined the cast as “Jersey Jon.”
He’s there to spice things up and offer some humor. He was cast after fans claimed the show was “boring” without former cast member Frank Fritz.
All of them are coming back for Season 26. The cast is already back on the road filming for the upcoming season. An insider shared the news with The U.S. Sun.
“They are filming, they got back from Louisiana. They’re filming for Season 26 and they have signed on for three more years,” the source told the outlet.
American Pickers went through ups and downs. It dealt with a rollercoaster of ratings throughout Season 25. The lowest episode to date was on Valentine’s Day.
The show amassed 774,000 viewers. The highest-ranking episode was on January 24th, when the show attracted 948,000 viewers.
History Channel – Faces Cancellation Rumors
For years, American Pickers has struggled with cancellation rumors. There have been mixed reviews on the seasons that don’t feature original cast member, Frank Fritz.
He last appeared on the series in 2020. The History Channel fired him from the show in 2021 after he recuperated from back surgery.
Frank distanced himself from the show and co-host and former friend, Mike Wolfe. During that time, Frank changed his life and went to rehab for alcohol addiction.
He faced another health setback when he suffered a severe stroke. Frank is currently recovering at an assisted living center.
In the meantime, fans have complained about the new seasons of American Pickers.
Many threatened to boycott the show, which caused the drop in ratings. Some fans took to the show’s Facebook page to speculate on the show’s future.
“Excited for the new episodes,” one fan wrote.
“There won’t be any. Ratings have hit the dirt,” another user responded.
American Pickers originally aired on Saturday evenings. It moved to Wednesdays and now Thursdays. What are your thoughts on the show being renewed? Sound off below in the comment section.
