Fans know the Chrisleys from their numerous television shows over the years. There was their original reality show, Chrisley Knows Best which eventually gave rise to a spinoff series, Growing Up Chrisley that centered around Todd’s youngsters Savannah and Chase Chrisley.

There was also Todd and Julie Chrisley’s podcast, Chrisley Confessions. Of course, as of late, media attention for the family has centered around Todd and Julie’s conviction for bank fraud and tax evasion and the subsequent lengthy federal prison sentences they were handed. But the question remains: Where did Todd Chrisley get his fame to begin with?

We Got This Covered reported in January that Todd was in real estate prior to his adventures in reality TV. He had been married to his first wife and the mother of Lindsie Chrisley, Teresa Terry prior to getting hitched to his current wife, Julie. According to TV Shows Ace, Terry shared that Todd has always had a flair for fashion and interior design.

From there, the real estate mogul went into flipping homes, combining it with his knack for fashion and design and he became hugely successful in real estate. The Chrisley patriarch’s passion didn’t fall far from the proverbial tree either, as kids Savannah and Chase recently went into the real estate business together.

Chrisley Knows Best – Rise, Fall, And Rise Again Of Todd Chrisley

Todd’s life hit a speed bump when he and Terry got divorced and she filed a domestic violence charge against him. At the time, the two shared two children, Lindsie and Kyle. Ultimately, Todd’s real estate business tanked and he filed for bankruptcy more than a decade ago.

The financial woes didn’t last long though when talks of a show with the Chrisley family arose. Todd first enjoyed fame when his show launched. However, before that, he shared with OK! He “always knew there was some crazy, but they felt like it was a show.”

He continued, “They asked to do a sizzle reel, and I didn’t know what that was. We agreed to it, and really it was okay if nothing came from it. It wasn’t going to change my life… then they came back and said, ‘We’ve been wanting to stay away from you guys. But I just want you to know we presented this to ten different networks, and we have nine offers.’ And so I thought, Wow, the world really does have a desire for crazy.”
