The “Growing Up Chrisley” veteran opened up about her thoughts on the matter in an episode of her “Unlocked” podcast Tuesday with her future sister-in-law, Emmy Medders.
She tells Emmy that she “can’t move on” as her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, are still behind bars. “In my mind, I’m like, ‘I can’t move on with my life,’” the 25-year-old explained. “Until I know that they’re going to be there, I can’t get married. I can’t have a kid.”
The Loss of Parents, Still Alive
Todd, 53, and Julie, 49 were handed down a combined sentence of 19 years in their respective Florida prisons after the pair were found guilty of bank fraud and tax evasion. Savannah explained to her sister-in-law that she feels like she’s “grieving the loss of parents that are still alive.”
Savannah explained to Medders that she feels like she is “grieving the loss of parents that are still alive.” Medders, who is currently engaged to get hitched to Chase Chrisley, cautioned Savannah not to put her life on hold for her parents.
“You can’t just stop your life,” she said. “And your parents, our parents, wouldn’t want us to do that, no matter what happens.”
Chrisley Family News – You Don’t Know What You Got Till it’s Gone
The Sassy by Savannah creator shared that her dad encouraged her to move forward, pointing to the fact that they will always be together, even if it’s through phone calls and prison visits at a distance.
“Dad was like, ‘I may not be here in front of you, but I’m still alive. I’m still fighting. You don’t have to live a day without speaking to me,’” she recalled. Last week, Chase talked about the difficulty he was having knowing that his parents were going away for a long while, telling Savannah that it felt like they were “going through hell.”
“It is a terrible, terrible situation but I have to try to find the good even in the darkest times,” Savannah’s younger brother said on the podcast. “I feel like throughout everything that we have been going through has made me appreciate things that I did not appreciate as much in the past.”
