Collin Gosselin Dreamed Of A Career With The Military
When Jon Gosselin left the TLC show and his wife, Kate, the toxic separation meant a long custody fight. Their son Collin, one of the sextuplets disappeared. For some time, there was speculation on his whereabouts. But one day, he smuggled out a letter to his dad who then spent lots of money getting his son out of a mental health institution.
Collin Gosselin, his sister, Hannah, and his dad opened up about his institutionalization by Kate Gosselin. That came on Vice TV’s documentary, Dark Side of the 2000s. After Jon paid a lot of money to get his son released as not unwell, his boy successfully applied to join the Marines. But that dream came to a sudden stop.
Kate Gosselin Destroyed Her Son’s Career?
When the former TLC star shared about his career choice last year, many Jon and Kate Plus 8 fans cheered him on. He’d been with the Army Junior ROTC while at school and he praised the instructors for helping him. So, the TLC alum wanted to serve his country. But now it turns out, it was not to be. According to an interview with Entertainment Tonight this week, he was discharged soon before graduating.
Collin Gosselin told the outlet that he hasn’t given up his dream of being a Marine and he intends to fight through an appeal. The reason for his discharge is the fact that he was institutionalized by his mom, Kate Gosselin. He explained:
I was towards the end of training, very close to graduating. The paperwork was looked into, and they found out that I was, in fact, in an institution at one point in my life. And see, they don’t need any deeper reason. Being in an institution, that’s good enough for…discharge.
In the meantime, he’s still thinking about a college career and is catching up with his friends. So, he’s not crying about it. However, he probably cried a million tears for his lost childhood already.
