Did Jim Bob Duggar Win In The Runoffs For The Arkansas Senate?

Jim Bob Duggar campaigned for office in Arkansas State Senate District 7. The seat became vacant when Lance Eads (Rep) resigned. Actually, Counting On fans seemed a bit astonished that he announced his campaign during the media outcry over his son, Josh. Still, he made all sorts of promises in the campaign,  and not everyone hated the idea. So, did he win his bid for office in the runoffs?

Jim Bob Duggar Announced His Run For Arkansas Office

When the patriarch of Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting announced he would campaign for office, Josh Duggar’s trial had not yet started. However, the press already ran news about the various pre-trial hearings for possession and receiving child porn. TLC fans seemed very taken aback at his run for office during the scandal. After all, Josh stood a chance of going to prison for a very long time. Additionally, his wife Anna, who produced her 7th child, would obviously be devastated if her husband ended up jailed for decades.

The son of Jim Bob Duggar ran into problems from a  young age. In 2015, when the molestation scandal emerged, neither his dad nor the newly accused Josh probably ever anticipate that it might be used against him in his trial. Actually, the oldest son of Michelle and Jim caused problems for the family in the past. But, that never seemed to rock his dad at all.  Sounding supremely confident about his run for Senate, it, unfortunately, came just a short time after Josh was convicted. Potentially, that made a lot of people hesitant to vote for him.

Jim Bob Duggar Runs For Senate – Did He Win?

When the news came at the end of October, that the Counting On alum still nursed political ambition, a lot of TLC fans were shocked. Admittedly, Josh hadn’t yet been found guilty. But, amidst the major press coverage, his bid for office made some folks feel that all it did was reveal his arrogance. Soap Opera Spy reported that one TLC fan remarked on social media, “Cannot think of a worse time to be running for any form of office.” Another one penned, “Ok. Did he forget what his son is on trial for? And he thinks people will vote for him.” Well, it seems that the second commenter was correct as he lost. Katie Joy of Without A Crystal Ball talked about it on Instagram.

As Katie Joy pointed out, in the run-off election, Jim Bob Duggar only netted 456 votes. That’s not a huge amount. Colby Fuller took 1,387 votes as a candidate, and Steve Unger, just under 1,000. Mind you, Jim did grab more votes than Edge Nowlin with188. Of course, with a previous seat on the Senate in District 6, perhaps his current loss brings the end of his political career. Back in 2002, he tried out for the United States Senate and lost. Then, in 2006, he lost his bid for a seat in Arkansas Senate, District 35.

TLC Fans Comment On The Loss

Jim Bob Duggar doesn’t seem to have a huge number of TLC fans, and a lot of them still simmer about Josh not being dealt with properly when he molested his sisters. One follower wrote, “❤️so glad he lost.” Meanwhile, another follower opined, “Thank goodness.”
