A court case has more or less blown open the Brown family’s financial status and has left fans wondering what’s really going on with the stars of the reality TV show. Really, did Billy Brown die nearly broke, because that would be so awkward.
Billy Brown’s Former Business Associate Sues Late Reality TV Star’s Estate For Money
Apparently, according to Robert Maughon, Billy’s former business associate, the star went into a money agreement with him that he later refused to keep. As a result of this, the assets of the late ‘Alaskan Bush People’ star has been declared, and I can tell you that fans are underwhelmed.
As the executor of the estate following Billy’s death in February 2021, Amora “Ami” Brown, revealed that he owns $7,000 in “sentimental jewelry” and $5,000 worth of baseball cards.
“Livestock: longhorn cattle, ostriches, and horses with a total combined value at Billy’s death of approximately $31,000,” the documents obtained by the US Sun continued. “Coins and ingots with a total monetary value at Billy’s death of approximately $10,000, although this is likely a significant overestimate.”
The paperwork also mentioned that Billy has “$21,050 in miscellaneous household items,” according to the outlet, including a “Harley Davidson chopper custom bear motorcycle worth $14,000.”
Other notable items put down included a $120 framed portrait of the family’s mountain home, a “1900s ship captain desk” worth $5,000, a “queen Anne sofa” valued at $1,200 and two cabinets worth $1,000.
The paperwork further states that Billy didn’t leave a will before he died at age 68 after suffering from a seizure.
At the time of his death, per his wife, he had a $415,000 worth of land and $2,000 in a Wells Fargo bank account. Billy’s debt was in excess of $27,000 accrued by medical bills.
What Fans Have To Say About the ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Stars’ Financial Situation
While rumors have been going on for a while that the family live in nicer places than they let on on social media, it’s hard to ignore that per the court papers Ami filed, things aren’t looking so good for the family that reportedly earned $500,000 an episode for the 114 episodes in its 14 seasons.
Commenting on this, a fan wrote: “The rehab for Matt probably wasn’t cheap. Billy bought the Integrity twice. He smoked constantly they just never showed it. And I imagine they weren’t paying taxes, so once they got on the air, they would likely would have had to deal with the IRS.”
Another opined: “I think it boils down to all the medical bills for Amis treatment and the times he was sent to hospital. I doubt they could catch enough salmon for all those bills.”
In a truly biting takedown, one fan wrote: “Billy was such a con man/grifter, no wonder the money disappeared. It bothered me to see so many people fall for this fake show.”
