Farmer Wants a Wife became such a hit that it was renewed for a second season, which just started. This dating series follows a group of farmers who are looking to find the love of their lives. They get paired up with city girls. Some would say the show is more successful than Farmers Only. Keep on reading to learn more.
Was Farmers Only Successful?
At the time of this writing, Farmers Only has over 150,000 users, according to Best Company.
That’s not a large number considering the popularity of other dating apps like Hinge, Beehive, and Tinder. The online dating site only gets 418,000 hits per day. Other dating sites like Match and eHarmony.com get millions of hits.
These stats are different from a report in 2014 which claimed that 1.5 million people joined the dating site at the time of its inception.
During that time, Farmers Only beat out competing dating sites like OkCupid. However, the number of members has declined over the years.
Farmers Only is an online dating website that caters only to farmers who want love. You’ll find both female and male farmers.
The reason why it became successful is that it helps farmers to weed out the fakes and flakes. Agriculture life makes it harder for them to have free time, let alone find time to date.
Most farmers work 70 to 80 hours per week. Farmers Only attracts farmers to women who aren’t high-maintenance.
Some women run successful ranches and go hunting on their own. This is what initially attracted so many people to the dating site.
Farmer Wants a Wife – Better Than Farmers Only?
FOX wanted to take this approach with a dating series. This formula has worked well for the network. Many people are saying that Farmer Wants a Wife is better than using Farmers Only.
Host Jennifer Nettles explained why she loves the show more than online dating apps. She called them “transactional” and “fake.”
One reason why the country singer agreed to host Farmer Wants a Wife is because she believes the show is “an authentic way to make an old-fashioned connection.” The couples are “spending time together” and “getting to know each other.”
They communicate in person rather than on a website. The second season premiere started strong with 2 million viewers.
