Gerry Turner from The Golden Bachelor has lost his dad, Everett. The ABC star’s father was 93 years old at the time of his death in January this year. The news only recently reached the internet and comes amid news that Gerry struggles with a form of bone cancer.
Rumors Of A Death
Recently, there were rumors on social media that Gerry had passed away from his cancer. However, it was proven to be untrue. However, his father, Everett, passed away. Perhaps that’s where the confusion began.

The Sun US reported on the death of the ABC star’s dad this week. Citing an “obituary,” the outlet noted that Everette passed away “in Fort Wayne, Indiana” and the date of death was “January 28, 2025.” A memorial for the older man was held on “February 15, 2025 at a Veterans organization in New Haven, Indiana.”
The Reality TV Star Was Silent
Everett didn’t have a soft spot for Gerry Turner’s wife, Theresa Nist. Perhaps that’s why his son hasn’t mentioned the death on his social media. In fact, two days after his dad’s death, Gerry shared a photo of himself on vacation in Mexico.

Everett was unable to travel from Indiana to California for Gerry’s wedding to Theresa Nist due to his health. As a thoughtful gesture, Gerry had a small wedding cake replica sent to Everett so he could celebrate remotely.

Probably, his wife who survived his passing, Norma “Peggy” Berkes-Turner celebrated on that day as well.
The Extended Family Supported The Show
During the ABC show, fans met some of the extended family of Gerry. He has two daughters, Jenny Young and Angie Warner, and two granddaughters, Payton and Charlee Young. You might remember that on social media, Gerry mentioned that Theresa Nist’s grandsons made a refreshing experience after hanging out with so many girls.
It seems like the entire family kept the death of Everett private as none of Gerry’s daughters posted on social media about the passing of their beloved grandfather. It’s entirely possible that the outlet discovered the obituary when checking out death rumors of the first senior lead on ABC.
The Will Details
Following up, the outlet even dug out parts of the will that Everett left behind. The motorcycle-loving older man’s last testament said, in part:
My four Emmett Kelly Figurines, all of my grandfather’s tools on the left side of the back wall in the residence garage, all guns to include the Marlin lever action with gold trigger, short barrel 410 and 20 gauge bolt action, and Swarovski silver crystal collections to Gerry W. Turner.
Gerry Turner filed to be the executor of the estate. Are you sad to hear that Everett passed away? He did okay to notch up 92 years, but death is always sad, even if expected.
