How Tom Sandoval’s Former Assistant Ann Maddox Justified the Way Ariana Madix Spoke to Her

When it comes to holding grudges, Tom Sandoval’s former assistant Ann Maddox has none, at least not against Ariana Madix.

You know that time when you’re just too frustrated that you start yelling, even though your instinct was never to appear rude, yeah, Ariana had one of those moments and luckily, Ann understands.

Planning any event can take its toll. If you doubt me, just look at how Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding planning created tension between the former actress and the now-Princess of Wales. Yup, those big days can be worth it, but the lead up to it can be agonizing.

During the second episode of “Vanderpump Rules’” 11th season, which aired on Tuesday, February 6, Ann played the part of an intermediary between Ariana, 38, and Tom Sandoval, 41, as the latter wished to host his birthday party at their shared Los Angeles home.

Well, Ariana was not having it. How can she stay at a hotel just because Tom wanted to have a party? The argument soon led to some harsh words, which Ann did not entirely escape from.

Fans quickly blamed Ariana for the way she made Ann feel for “just doing her job,” with one writing on X, “I hate the way that Ariana is talking to Tom’s assistant. She literally is just doing her damn job dude.”

However, Ann refuses to see it in a light where she is the victim.

“I totally thought it was justified,” Ann told “We Signed an NDA” co-host Amanda Lifford when she asked her how she felt about Ariana’s tone.

She continued: “If I was in that position, I would probably be like, ‘Wow, the audacity of asking me if you could have your birthday party in this house in this situation.’ If there was any frustration, I could tell that it was definitely towards Tom. Like, I didn’t take it personally. … She has every right to feel annoyed at this request.”

To further provide context to Ariana’s explosive reaction, she pointed out that the scene was shot in July 2023, which means Ariana and Sandoval were navigating the early stages of the Rachel “Raquel” Leviss affair.

“If there’s any fans out there who are surprised by Ariana’s reaction, I would say this was literally a few months after she found out about the affair and it was not a time to party,” Ann said. “I felt so bad asking Ariana about the party and seeing if it was OK. I remember in between takes I would just apologize profusely to Ariana. I felt so bad.”
