Vanderpump Rules alum, James Kennedy struggled with sobriety ever since Bravo fans met him on the show. However, the British-born DJ tried to stay off the alcohol. Since his arrest in December, he opened up several times about his current fight to stay sober.
James Kennedy Stopped Drinking With Raquel Leviss
Bravo fans didn’t like James when he drank. And, they always knew when he wasn’t sober because he got loud and aggressively annoying. In 2020, he proudly announced that he had been sober for a year. It was Rachel “Raquel” Leviss who encouraged him to stick with the AA. But, they split.
After James Kennedy split from Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, the Vanderpump Rules alum started drinking again. For a while, the Bravo star claimed he was off the booze and only smoking marijuana. However, it seemed that alcohol possibly played a part when he allegedly got violent with his new girlfriend, Ally Lewber after a party.
Jamed Kennedy Talks About Sobriety
Ally Lewber left James for the holidays and the Bravo alum helped her move out. He also took to social media and on his Instagram stories, he mentioned sobriety several times. One of his stories said:
I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life. I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones. Navigating challenging moments is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow, and move forward with the incredible support system around me.
The Vanderpump Rules alum said more about sobriety since then.
Bravo Alum Talks About The AA
US Weekly reported on January 8, that James shared a story of his pup, and later, on Tuesday, he also shared some of his AA chips. The outlet noted, “Kennedy showed nine of his chips from Alcoholics Anonymous which read, ‘Keep Coming Back.”‘
Recently, on his profile page on Instagram, James Kenney has been talking about his work at concerts. Certainly, he doesn’t work in an environment where staying sober might be easy. Thousands of people drink, smoke, or pop pills at concerts. So, his efforts to stay clean seem admirable. Addictions are never easy to deal with even without working in a place where others are not necessarily struggling to conquer their urges.
