Todd And Julie Chrisley’s – $30 Million Fraud Trial
Todd and Julie Chrisley were the stars of the hit USA Network series. They were on television for over a decade. Their lives came crashing down when they were accused of fraud in 2019. The IRS found that the couple intentionally defrauded the banks of $30 million.
The Chrisleys have been in an ongoing legal battle with the IRS and the Federal Government. Todd and Julie pleaded not guilty to the charges of fraud and tax evasion. This came back to bite them since the couple faced a lengthy prison sentence.
A jury found that Todd and Julie Chrisley were guilty of all charges. They were sentenced to a combined total of 19 years in prison. Todd was mainly responsible for their fraud. He received a sentence of 12 years, while Julie was sentenced to seven years in prison.
The couple is currently serving time in separate correctional facilities. Both are reportedly writing memoirs to tell their side of the story. They will have to pay back the $30 million in fraud money. In late 2023, their sentences were reduced to two years.
On April 19, 2024, Todd and Julie Chrisley had their oral arguments heard during an appeal court. Savannah Chrisley, Grayson Chrisley, and Nanny Faye Chrisley attended the hearing. Todd and Julie’s attorney are hopeful of the outcome.
However, it could take a year for a judge to respond. They are hoping they will get out of jail sooner than later.
Judge Seizes More Chrisley Assets
Now there’s a new development in their multi-layered case. A judge is asking Todd and Julie to turn over a $30,000 trust fund. Court documents were obtained by Channel 2 Actions News.
The official documents found the Chrisleys had $29,932.23 in an IOLTA trust. Chrisley fans took to Reddit to react to this latest development. The judge could attempt to season everythign.
“Yes, they still have all their high end vehicles, jewelry, clothes, designer bags etc. They could seize every damn thing,” one fan mused.
“Good turn over everything they owe!” demanded another user.
“They deserve to be broke broke when they get out of prison,” a third user wrote.
Todd and Julie Chrisley reportedly took out $36 million in loans. They discharged $20 million of them into Todd’s bankruptcy. This left them with $16 million. Some fans blamed their daughter Savannah for calling the court heartless while she spent her parents’ money.
