Kate Gosselin became famous on the reality TV show Jon & Kate Plus 8. And spin-offs as well as books helped the mom of twins plus sextuplets and then-husband Jon Gosselin enjoy wealthy lifestyles.
However, Kate’s life today without that TV show income has changed dramatically. And she even allegedly borrowed thousands from the kids’ trust fund to survive. Keep reading for all the details as well as catch up with her kids.
Kate Gosselin – Inspires ‘Karen’ Meme
From a celebrity chosen for Dancing With The Stars to inspiring one of the very first “Karen” memes, Kate Gosselin knows that reality TV show fame doesn’t last.
And with that, the mom of twins and sextuplets with ex-husband Jon Gosselin watched her reality TV fortune fade as well.
But Kate started out as a Pennsylvania labor-and-delivery nurse. However, a documentary featuring the birth of her sextuplets spawned the popular TV show Jon & Kate Plus 8 in 2007. And spin-offs followed, along with books. But all that has gone.
And an insider told In Touch, “She’s fallen quite a ways from being one of the country’s top reality stars. Kate is currently living a very quiet and boring life in North Carolina. She doesn’t date and has very few friends. Actually, her best friends are pretty much her kids.”

However, Kate’s so-called best friends have grown up. For instance, 23-year-old Cara graduated from Fordham University. And she works as a financial analyst residing in NYC. Her twin, Mady, received her degree from Syracuse University. And she has begun working at Bubble Skincare in the Big Apple.
But two of the sextuplet siblings have become estranged. And among the 19-year-old high school grads, Kate has lacked a relationship with Hannah and Collin for the last five years. Their father Jon, 46, received custody of the two siblings in 2018.
And Collin remains estranged from his mother. However, he has claimed that Kate allegedly mistreated him as a child. Collin recently enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Kate Gosselin – Lives ‘Paycheck To Paycheck’
But Kate claimed that Collin’s mental health issues caused the estrangement. And the insider revealed, “Mady backed up Kate’s claims about Collin. But some of the others thought their brother’s personal issues should not have been discussed.”
Meanwhile, Kate reportedly has increasingly struggled financially. And with the reality TV show money gone, she changed her lifestyle. As a result, Kate moved to Troutman, North Carolina. And she received a multi-state nursing license in 2021, hoping to return to her former profession.
But the insider claimed, “Kate lives paycheck to paycheck.” And the reality TV show alum allegedly “borrowed” $100,000 from her kids’ trust fund “to survive.” But the source added, “There hasn’t been a glam squad for a very long time, so Kate looks totally different. She stays home a lot, watches a lot of TV.”
