Bachelor Nation fans will be disappointed by this news. Kathie Lee Gifford was one of the names thrown around for the debut season of The Golden Bachelorette.

Fans are dying to know who the first female lead is. ABC announced in February that the first season will debut in the fall.

The Golden Bachelor smashed records in 2023. The network suggested that one of Gerry Turner’s former contestants could become the lead of the spin-off series.

Other names were thrown into the ring, such as Martha Stewart and Susan Lucci. Today Show co-host Hoda Kotb mentioned that her friend and former co-host Kathie Lee Gifford for the role.

The Bachelor producers reached out to the former television personality. But she turned them down. In a recent interview with Fox News, Kathie explained why she’s not into the idea of finding love on the dating show.

“Here’s the thing. You know when you get in a hot tub?” Kathie Lee Gifford joked. “Diseases, diseases.” She also called the popular dating competition “dumb.” Kathie would feel pressure to get close to some of the male suitors.

“And you know what happens when you start kissing people that you have no idea where their lips have been? It’s just so dumb. So, until you have trust with someone… they don’t give you much time before they want you in the hot tub,” Kathie added.

Starring In Amazon Prime Series With Daughter

Kathie Lee Gifford doesn’t have time to film The Golden Bachelorette. She’s appearing in a joint project with her daughter, Cassidy.

The mother-and-daughter duo have been promoting their upcoming series, which will stream on Amazon Prime Video. Kathie has shifted her career after leaving Today in 2019.

Kathie and Cassidy will star in the new series called The Baxters alongside Touched By An Angel star Roma Downey.

Interestingly enough, Cassidy and Kathie won’t appear in the show together. According to Fox News, the “faith-based” show focuses on the lives of The Baxters.
