Katie Thurston Updates ‘Bachelorette’ Fans On Breast Cancer

Katie Thurston formerly on Matt James‘ The Bachelor, Bachelor In Paradise, and The Bachelorette shared the scary news that she has breast cancer.

Candidly, she updated her followers on her health diagnosis which threw her into emotional turmoil. The ABC star’s news arrived months after her engagement to Jeff Arcuri.

The Cancer News Comes 5 Months After Engagement

Bachelorette fans felt very happy for the former flame of Blake Moynes when she became engaged to Jeff Arcuri in September last year. After all, she seemed unlucky in love with conservationist Blake, and her former boyfriend,  John Hersey who she split from in 2022.

The news that Katie Thurston posted about her breast cancer arrived via TMZ on February 15. The outlet shared a screenshot of her text where she delivered the bad news. 2025 has not been a good year for Reality TV stars, as Teddi Mellencamp recently underwent surgery to remove brain tumors. 

Update & Emotional Turmoil 

In her Instagram post where she shared a gray-toned photo with her hand up as if to show off her engagement ring, the ABC star didn’t hold back on her emotions. Instead of enjoying Valentine’s Day, the reality TV star said that she spent time “coordinating a place to live as I have to go back to LA for more testing and treatment.”

Katie Thurston talked about her fears and turmoil, adding, “I experienced a range of emotions over the past two weeks. Despair. Anger. Sadness. Denial. And then strength. Purposeful. Ready. I cried a lot. I tried to even make a video instead of this post and couldn’t.”

Next, Thurston talked about how the stories of other people with breast cancer helped her. So, she claimed that she intends to share her journey with others, to encourage them as well. Plus, she shouted out Arcuri’s loving support. Plenty of her colleagues took to her comments section to encourage her. Here are some of those interactions:
