Katy Perry Is Under Investigation In Spain, Why?

Katy Perry decided to take time away from American Idol in 2024 to make music and tour. Well, she’s into that dream right now and earning a pretty penny. However, she is also being investigated in Spain. Read on to find out why. 

Katy Perry Had Bad Luck With A Single 

The former American Idol judge has been making music as promised. Unfortunately, a recent single titled “Woman’s World” didn’t do well. Fans didn’t like the words or the fact that she worked with a producer called Dr. Luke, previously accused of sexual assault.

Katy Perry ended up having to defend herself and told fans they didn’t get it. Claiming it was a parody didn’t endear her fans to her. Since then, she released another single called “Lifetimes,” and this time, it’s the video that came under fire. In fact, the American Idol alum is under investigation in Spain, per US Weekly.  

American Idol Judge Filmed In Spain’s Balearic Islands

According to the outlet, the singer filmed around “Ibiza” and allegedly, the production didn’t obtain the necessary permissions for the video shoot. The “Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment” claimed that there were several reports of possible “violations,” especially when they filmed at the “protected sand dunes of S’Espalmador.”

Katy Perry’s team allegedly didn’t even apply for any type of authorization to film in the protected area. The Press release said that the lack of proper channels had kickstarted a “preliminary investigation.”

Still, the American Idol judge might not face the ultimate music as apparently, it’s about infringing the rules rather than causing massive environmental damage. However, there are rules and regulations in place for a reason. For now, it’s too early to say what the outcome will be. 

The Reaction By Fans

In the video, fans saw a ferry, swimming, partying on the beaches, and lots of dancing. That was followed by nighttime fun and plenty of celebrations. The Spanish authorities might be irritated, but fans of the singer seem relieved that “Lifetimes,” written for her daughter, seems to be better than “Woman’s World.”
