Jacky Oh Died At 32 – What Caused Her Death?

The news that former MTV star Jacky Oh had died at age 32 shocked fans in May. But until now, no one knew what caused her sudden death.

However, a spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office just told People  that the former TV star (whose birth name is Jacklyn Smith) lost her life due to complications from cosmetic surgery.

And a BET Media Group spokesperson reflected on the young woman’s sudden death. “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jacklyn Smith, known to the world as Jacky Oh, a talented Wild ‘N Out family member whose impact will be forever treasured and missed. Jacky Oh was a loving friend and beloved colleague of the Wild ‘N Out cast throughout five seasons.”

And the representative added, “More importantly, she was a tremendous mother to three beautiful children. The BET Media Group extends our sincere condolences to the Smith family, DC Young Fly, B Simone, Nick Cannon, and all friends who loved and cared for Jacky Oh during this difficult time.”

DC Young Fly Thanks Fans For Well Wishes

The former MTV star’s partner DC Young Fly also offered a tribute to Jacky Oh. After the two met in 2015, they welcomed three children: Nova, Nala and Prince. And Fly shared, “We thank everyone for their well wishes and ask for privacy during this difficult time.”

A police report about the tragedy stated that authorities had been “dispatched … in reference to an unresponsive female.” And the authorities then took Jacky Oh to Mercy Hospital. However, the medical team’s attempts to resuscitate her failed.

Jacky Oh had starred as a cast member of Wild ‘N Out for five seasons, starting with season 6 in 2014. But she also formed a fan following through other projects, such as roles on Marc + Jenni, Shift Drinks and The Worst Couple. And after leaving Wild ‘N Out, Jacky Oh started her own lip gloss line and sold real estate.

And on social media, fans reacted to the news. For instance, one wrote, “Sending love and condolences during this difficult time. May their legacy live on in our hearts.” And in response to the news that cosmetic surgery complications had resulted in the former MTV personality’s death, another fan shared, “I pray women will wake up and learn to love themselves.” One fan posted, “RIP Jacky. Surgery complications can become serious and scary so fast, no matter how routine a procedure is. Condolences with her loved ones.”
