Find out what the Real Housewives alum claimed in her lawsuit. And see who she targeted in addition to Cohen. Learn all about the shocking lawsuit below.
NeNe Alleges RHOA Producers Allow Racism
Did Real Housewives Of Atlanta producers fail to protect NeNe Leakes from racism? In a stunning new lawsuit, the RHOA alum claims that she suffered on set, reported TMZ. NeNe blames the producers for allowing an environment that permitted racism and toxic comments.
Filed in an Atlanta federal court, the lawsuit calls out the Real Housewives production team for permitting offensive remarks. For instance, Leakes accuses RHOA co-star Kim Zolciak-Biermann of using stereotypical phrases and racial terms about both NeNe and Kandi Burruss. However, the lawsuit does not impact Kim, instead using her as an example.
One particularly volatile example describes the Black cast members getting called the n-word. Because NeNe told execs about the remarks but got ignored, Leakes has directed her lawsuit only to the producers. But the lawsuit does go into more details about the behind-the-scenes problems.
NeNe Leakes Sues Andy Cohen And Bravo TV
Executives who master-minded Real Housewives Of Atlanta knew about NeNe Leakes’ complaints, according to the RHOA alum. But rather than punish Kim, Zolciak-Biermann received a separate spin-off show! And Leakes also alleges that she got pushed out of RHOA because of her allegations.
In addition to problems with other cast, NeNe recalls supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. But she felt producers nudged her away when her co-stars talked about their own support. As a result, Leakes has targeted her lawsuit at NBCUniversal, Bravo, True Entertainment, Truly Original, and Real Housewives mastermind Andy Cohen.
NeNe seeks damages from the RHOA executives for allegedly violating anti-discrimination and federal employment laws. And she also teased that she might make a Real Housewives comeback if changes get made. But thus far Bravo and Andy Cohen seem unsure how to respond to her allegations of an environment tolerating and even encouraging racism.
However, fans showed no such hesitation. For instance, one wrote, “We hate to see NeNe has experienced racism of any kind. But the NBC lawyers are about to have a field day considering she continued to work with them up until 2020, basically when the checks stopped.”
And when Cohen tweeted fans for help in choosing a Real Housewives reunion suit, his followers couldn’t resist tweaking his post. For example, one joked, “I don’t think that’s the suit you should worry about!” And another chimed in simply, “Not!” However, Andy carefully avoided referring to the lawsuit, tweeting, “LOL. Noted.”
