Nikki Garcia Gets Restraining Order Against Artem Chigvintsev

Nikki Garcia filed for divorce after her husband, Artem Chigvintsev was arrested for alleged domestic violence, and now she’s gotten herself a restraining order, despite charges being dropped. Read on to find out what she claims went down with the Dancing With the Stars pro-dancer.

Nikki Garcia Stayed Quiet After The Arrest

When Dancing With the Stars fans heard that Artem Chigvintsev was arrested for alleged domestic violence, his wife kept things so private that most people had to guess that she was the victim. It went down at the end of August when the couple were in Napa, California celebrating their anniversary. 

Nikki Garcia might have been keeping quiet and private then, but now she’s talking all about it. Perhaps she decided to take the restraining order route after the charges against Artem Chigvintsev were dropped. Subsequently, he made it clear that he only wanted to get custody rights to their son, Matteo. With the charges dropped, he might have stood a good chance of that. 

Restrain Order Filed Against Artem Chigvintsev

TMZ reported this week, that Artem’s estranged ex filed for a restraining order and a judge signed off on it. The conditions of the order stated that Artem Chigvintsev must not “contact her or come within 100 yards of her, their son, their home, etc. The only exception is for visitation or exchange of the child per court-ordered visits.”

Nikki Garcia then detailed her version of the events that happened that night. Actually, it seems incredible the way things went down. Remember, we are talking about a professional wrestler with the WWE until two years ago. Maybe she’s a bit rusty these days. It all started over an argument about what food their son Matteo should eat.  

The Allegations Against The DWTS Pro

Initially, when Artem called in the EMTs, he talked about a pair of shoes being thrown at him. Nikki admits that happened. But, she also noted that she threw Matteo’s shoes at him and claimed they could not have hurt. TMZ cited the documents as also claiming a lot more violent behavior.

The outlet wrote:

 

Artem…tackled her to the ground outside Matteo’s room. She says he grabbed her arms and held her on the ground for what felt like 30 seconds. Artem then went back into Matteo’s room and closed the door — and she says she again tried to push open the door, and he then opened it and pushed her across the hall into the couple’s bedroom, forcing her to the floor in their bathroom.

Allegedly, the former Dancing With the Stars cast member was angry and bad-tampered about not being chosen for the current season of the show. Well, things escalated, and Nikki Garcia claimed that her husband pressed down on her “sternum” making her feel like she was about to suffocate.
