Andy Cohen soared to fame as the executive producer of and reunion host for the Real Housewives. And fans appreciated Cohen’s wit on his talk show, Watch What Happens Live, as well. However, now Andy may regret taking his sarcastic humor too far.
And rumors hint that the Real Housewives honcho actually destroyed the chances for Real Housewives Of New York City (RHONY) Legacy show’s success. Find out what Cohen said that sparked problems for the RHONY Legacy show. And see which RHONY alum he targeted below.
Real Housewives – Spoilers – Andy Cohen Destroys Legacy Show Chances?
Andy Cohen enjoys throwing shade on his talk show, Watch What Happens Live. But in a single episode, the Real Housewives exec producer might have ruined the chances for the highly anticipated RHONY Legacy show. And Cohen aimed his snark at the wrong person, insiders told Page Six.
The shady moment came when Cohen mocked Real Housewives of New York City alum Jill Zarin. And when the RHONY alum started to negotiate her salary for the Legacy edition, she remembered Andy’s diss. The RHONY Legacy plans began when season 13 of Real Housewives Of New York City went haywire. And even the reunion got called off.
As a result, producers decided to divide RHONY into two separate shows. One version would offer a completely new RHONY cast. And the other would bring back fan faves from previous seasons. For instance, producers sought Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, Dorinda Medley and Tinsley Mortimer for Legacy.
But as the plans began, Cohen mocked Zarin. And he mentioned that former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong would return. But because she moved, Taylor will star on the Real Housewives of Orange County. And then Andy joked, “In unrelated news, Jill Zarin is closing on homes in Potomac, New Jersey, Beverly Hills, Orange County, Atlanta, Miami, Dubai, and Salt Lake City.” However, Cohen hinting that Jill feels so desperate to return that she will take any role on any Real Housewives show went too far.
RHONY Spoilers – Jill Zarin Walks Away From Negotiations
Zarin remembered that comment during negotiations for RHONY Legacy. And when producers failed to agree to her requests, she headed off. As a result, execs called off the negotiations. And one insider shared, “[Zarin] pushing for a big payday was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
However, another source claimed, “It wasn’t about the money. Jill just wanted all the women to be paid the same. They started at the same time. They built the show together. She felt they should be paid the same.”
And beyond wanting Zarin, producers needed a certain number of returning RHONY stars to give the green light to the Legacy edition. Because Mortimer, Ramona Singer and Bethenny Frankel opted out, Zarin needed to agree to fill out the cast. And that means Cohen’s love of shade may have destroyed RHONY Legacy, claim sources.
