In the latest episode of her Unlocked podcast with guest and mental health advocate Patrick Custer, Savannah Chrisley admitted that wanted attention. She grew up trying to get attention from her parents. Savannah competed with her siblings, especially her brothers. She wanted to be the best at everything, including excelling at sports and academics.

Savannah admitted that it would work and she would eventually get attention from her parents. Eventually, her perfectionism would drive her to be the perfect daughter.

She admitted that she was “on” all the time, ready to perform for the world. Being on Chrisley Knows Best and Growing Up Chrisley would allow her to be ready to be on the camera.

Savannah felt that she had to be entertaining all the time, even when the cameras were off. Patrick wanted to know about how her family was behind the camera, including her father.

Savannah says she was close to her father Todd Chrisley. Her relationship with her father is the reason why she’s still alive. She also admitted that their co-dependent relationship had its downsides.

There were times when Savannah Chrisley struggled with her mental health. She had a suicide attempt when she was around 15 or 16 years old. It happened around the time when they started filming their family reality series on USA Network. Savannah blocked out those events in her life because she was protecting herself from the trauma.

Her doctor assured her that she was “fine” to resume filming during that time. Savannah didn’t feel like herself but kept filming anyway. The television personality realized that she created a “character” that made it hard to see her real self. She credits her parents Todd and Julie Chrisley for helping her overcome her mental health struggles.

These days, Savannah Chrisley relies on her faith. She recalled that when she was in the throes of depression, she received an email from her dad received from Joe Osteen’s daily devotionals that saved her life.
