As Sister Wives Season 19 reaches its mid-season finale, fans are voicing their frustrations, calling the Brown family “bad actors” and accusing TLC of scripting events.
While the season has included major life changes—Janelle Brown moving to North Carolina, Christine Brown Woolley supporting her, and Meri Brown embracing business shifts—viewers are skeptical of how authentic the show remains. In particular, Kody and Robyn Brown’s interactions in their Flagstaff home have led many to believe the series is more performance than reality.
Fans Accuse Sister Wives of Feeling Scripted
Despite featuring themes of divorce, financial scandal, and personal transformation, some fans believe Sister Wives has lost its authenticity.
Viewers have pointed to specific moments that felt staged, including game nights, outdoor snow fights, Meri’s moving discussions, and Robyn’s ATV accident. As the mid-season finale aired, many felt they were being drawn into a cycle of repetitive, exaggerated drama.
A frustrated viewer on Reddit shared, “Why do I watch these bad actors pretending this is their true lives? I am an idiot.” Others chimed in:
“It’s like watching an old silent melodrama or a soap opera with heroes and villains. But apparently, the viewing audience just eats it up!”
“Lifetime movie-ish .”
“I was cringing as soon as the scene started. Bad acting. It just kept getting worse.”
“Well, maybe new viewers, those of us that have watched those children grow up….AND literally have listened to them talk on the tell-all’s we know what liars and actors they are for the .”
Aurora Brown’s Baptism Request Sparks Debate
One storyline that particularly struck a nerve with fans was Aurora Brown, 22, asking permission to be baptized.
Many saw this as an example of her desire to please her parents, with some suggesting that Robyn has been overly controlling of her daughter’s choices.
On the other hand, others felt Aurora’s request to have Kody involved was meant to “stroke his ego,” reinforcing the belief that the storyline was carefully crafted for television.
One viewer sarcastically asked, “You didn’t find the 22-year-old asking to be baptized compelling programming?” Another added, “I cringed so hard I hurt myself. This storyline is so gross and just amplifies how creepy Kody and Robyn are. Aurora, a fully grown adult, is treated like a fifteen-year-old. It’s so weird. If these weirdos think they’re getting a spin-off show with this crap, they are delusional.”
Is Sister Wives Nearing Its End?
Many fans believe that the show’s most compelling arcs—Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown’s departures—have played out.
Meri is focused on her B&B and a new chapter in her personal life, Janelle is starting her Taeda Farms business in North Carolina, and Christine is happily married in Utah.
While there is still another part of Season 19 set to air in the spring, some fans question whether there’s anything left to tell beyond unresolved property matters at Coyote Pass.
A longtime viewer summarized the sentiment, saying, “The show is really done now. The only storyline left with Kody and his ex-wives is Coyote Pass. Christine is in Utah, married and happy.
Janelle is in North Carolina. Meri is moving on. No one wants to see Kody and Robyn plus sad kids. The older kids don’t really want to be on camera. Not sure after this season if there’s any story left.”
For now, Sister Wives remains on air, with TLC planning a Tell-All special hosted by Sukanya “Suki” Krishnan. But with growing fan fatigue and criticism, the show’s future beyond Season 19 remains uncertain.
