‘Sister Wives’ Fans Side-Eye Kody Brown After Garrison Statement

Kody Brown and Janelle lost their son Garrison Brown in early March this year and now, they are opening up about their loss. TLC fans heard what the Sister Wives patriarch had to say, and they gave him the side-eye rather than a hot roasting. The reason they did that is because it must be awful to have to bury a child.  

Kody Brown Opens Up On Garrison

This week, the Sister Wives patriarch opened up to People about the loss of Garrison Brown. In part, the TLC star said:

The hard part is giving away that future that I saw for him, the excitement. It’s strange having your child pass. The wave of grief is different than any wave of grief I have ever had. It’s irreconcilable; the future that we missed with him. We could have been talking more. I’d get texts, and we could have done so much more. It was kind of like, ‘We’ve got forever.” But retrospectively, there would’ve been more catching up. It was more like it was a convenience of time that I felt like I had.

Kody Brown also talked about how his son loved “adventure,” and he then annoyed TLC fans by talking about wanting to go and have a “beer” with Garrison. Recall, that alcohol was thought to be a contributing factor in Garrion Brown’s death. The Sister Wives star also said, “I want him to try and make me laugh because he was kind of that way.” Then he noted that his “only regret” is the lack of “time.”

Sister Wives Fans Give The TLC Star The Side-Eye

On Reddit, not many people felt sorry for the man who was estranged from his son. However, not many of them got down and roasted him because death is a terrible shock. One member of the community wrote:

Saying he wishes he took him out for a beer was cringy considering what Janelle said about the substance issues. I will cut him a bit of slack because he is deep in grief but I am giving him side eye.

That doesn’t mean to say that no Sister Wives fans roasted Kody Brown. But much of it was expressed as puzzlement over what he had said. Here are some of those observations:

• …He is talking about him like he’s an old friend from high school where they naturally grew apart and went their separate ways which would be acceptable… but this is your child!
• the death is a tragedy. the way that kody interacted with garrison and gabe on the show (which was 2022?) was very sad. i am NOT saying the two things are connected, depression is complicated. i do hope that they were able to reconcile prior to garrison’s death, though, for kody and the family’s sake.
• “Tragic accident”????? His son was so troubled that he saw no other way out. It’s tragic that Kody treated his children so badly. It’s tragic that Kody doesn’t seem to realize that his behavior and treatment of the OG wives and their children may have been the straw that broke his son. He doesn’t have the self awareness to realize that he is the problem.
