The question is, can Kody Brown cope with just one wife? Seeing as Kody started his married life with Meri Brown as his first wife in 1990, and three years into the marriage he went and got himself a second wife in Janelle Brown, it is easy to conclude that Kody would be satisfied with having two wives all to himself.
That wasn’t the case at all as the following year he added Christine Brown as his wife number 3. After over a decade of waiting for another wife and not seeing, it was easy to once again assume that instead of three being a crowd, the third time was a charm.
It was as if Christine was Kody’s last bus stop in marriage. However, fast forward to 2010, after the premiere of their reality tv “Sister Wives” and Kody added Robyn Brown to his list of wives making her wife number 4. Their TLC show helped viewers see how Kody lived in polygamy.
Sister Wives Spoilers — Kody Brown Might Have Strong Opinions About Polygamy
When Kody married Meri in 1990, their marriage was a legal one, however, in order to have more wives, he had a spiritual marriage with Janelle and Christine, and this was possible because Kody belonged to the Apostolic United Brethren church where he’s allowed to marry more than one wife.
But then, when he wanted to marry Robyn, Kody divorced Meri, and married Robyn legally, making Robyn his only legal wife.
Kody who shares 18 children with his four wives believes that it’s necessary for a man to be polygamous because he was taught the importance of multiplying the world by the religion he belonged to.
With such a perspective, Kody and his family lived pretty well until five years ago when he started playing favoritism with his last wife and showing less attention to his other wives and their children.
His lack of affection got to the point that Christine got fed up and divorced him. The following year, Janelle and Meri did the same, leaving Kody with Robyn.
After the split from the three wives, Kody returned to monogamy but, the probability of Kody staying with just one wife is about 5/100.
This is not just because Kody is used to his polygamous lifestyle but a few years ago, Kody also said he couldn’t relate to monogamous husbands, meaning that he doesn’t fancy being in a monogamous family one bit.
Sister Wives Spoilers — Kody Brown Might Take On A New Wife
Earlier this year, in April, Pauline Bithell, a co-host of the Tender Loving Care…? podcast with Kate Chindlund, told “The U.S. Sun” some inside information she got concerning the patriarch and his monogamous life.
According to Bithell, “Kody wants to carry on and he needs to fill that [new wife] spot very quickly, and I think it’s very much about boosting his ego- his ego has taken a low blow.”
As for what Robyn thinks of Kody getting more wives, “[I’m] scared of it because of how badly this has gone. I really, really struggle with it because it feels, like, ‘Oh, well. Those didn’t work.
So, on to [someone] new,'” said Robyn as she added, “That’s hard for me. That’s really, really hard for me. It feels disrespectful.”
