In May, a story about a contestant from the Greece edition of Survivor revealed that 21-year-old Stavros Floros suffered injuries while spearfishing near Saona Island in between filming. This week, a new update reveals that he’s taking legal action and is suing the production team.
The Injuries Were Substantial
At the time, People reported that the injuries were substantial, and there were fears about whether the Greece Survivor contestant would survive.
His left leg was badly injured, and he also suffered severe injuries to his right ankle in a collision with a tourist boat.
The production team from AcunMedya confirmed the accident and assured fans of Survivor Greece that medical assistance arrived quickly.
Filing The Lawsuit

Recently, People reported that Stavros Floros, who “lost part of his leg,” is taking legal action and seeking $100 million in compensation. The papers were filed on September 3.
According to Us Weekly, Stavros Floros’ leg was “severed above the knee,” and he was only kept alive by “a tourniquet applied by a stranger aboard the offending tourist boat.”
Negligence Allegations
Floros spent 61 days in hospital and underwent multiple surgeries. He accused the producers of negligence, alleging that Survivor Greece required “contestants to spearfish in open water,” despite knowing that tourist boats often visited the area.
However, they allegedly didn’t provide safe zones, spotters, or warning markers. Floros also alleged that there had been close calls in the past, as well as a fatal incident.

A Startling Claim
Another startling claim in the lawsuit, reported by E! News, alleged that “the production then supplied and provided remaining cast members with cocaine and marijuana,” apparently to “help calm and settle the cast” after Stavros’ injury.
The E! News article also reported that Floros is seeking compensation for “past and future pain and suffering, mental anguish, and loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life.”

When the outlet shared the news on Instagram, fans of Survivor weighed in with their thoughts. Some folks wondered if he could sue the company because he may have signed a waiver.
One person suggested:
He likely signed a waiver and defense will use that but not all liability can be disclaimed. While you can “assume the risk” going on this show you would not expect to loose [sic] a limb and I’m sure that is the basis of his complaint.
Another person wrote, “I’m sorry, but the article says ‘production gave cast members cocaine and marijuana to calm their nerves’ HUH?”
Once proceedings in the lawsuit begin, the truth behind the various allegations will no doubt be argued at length by the attorneys involved in the case.
