Survivor viewers know host Jeff Probst as an enthusiastic but usually even-tempered TV star. However, the Survivor host just admitted that one new trend among players ranks as his biggest pet peeve.
And so Probst has come up with a way to get revenge. Keep reading for all the details, including why the Survivor host stabbed a bag of rice!
Survivor Spoilers – Jeff Probst Hates Quitters
Jeff Probst has come up with a scheme to react to players who quit Survivor. And given that two contestants have exited on their own amid season 45, the wrath of the Survivor host seems understandable.
But Probst just revealed a new rule change via TV Insider. And in explaining his reasons, the Survivor host also made it clear that he dislikes players who quit Survivor.
“Aw, quitters, man!” Probst complained on a recent talk show appearance. “Yes, two people quit. The truth is, over 45 seasons less than one percent quit … The one thing you can’t test for in all the psych testing is the real elements: the rain, the bamboo, the snakes, and all that.”
Survivor Spoilers – Jeff Probst Makes A New Rule
Because of his disdain for quitters, Probst declared, “From this point forward, if you’re a Survivor player and you quit, your torch will not be snuffed. To get your torch snuffed, you gotta play the game.”
And that means quitters will not enjoy the excitement of the iconic scenario where Probst snuffs out their torch and announces, “The tribe has spoken.” Because quitters make him so annoyed, Probst also shared, “You don’t get the moment if you quit, I think. I need to be a little harder on that.”
Because Probst just enforced the new rule, recent quitter Hannah didn’t get subjected to it. She made her exit in the season 45 premiere. And Sean similarly quit in episode four.
However, Probst also has orchestrated the return of the auction. That feature gives contestants the chance to bid on food. And producers also made other changes
For instance, a rice negotiation forced players to think quickly. But when they failed, Probst proved himself the fastest thinker by stabbing a hole in the rice bag. And that added the element of speed to the negotiation table.
As for what what lies ahead, Survivor has filmed season 46. And CBS just revealed that the upcoming season will premiere February 28, 2024.
In addition, CBS will continue with the 90-minute episodes introduced in season 45. However, Probst did not reveal if anyone quit in season 46 and became subjected to the new rule.
