Fans learned the news that she’s leaving her position as judge. Behind the scenes, producers are scrambling to find her replacement.

Sources claim that Taylor Swift could end up with a new job. Katy started her role as a judge in Season 16 of American Idol.

She joined Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, who were already veterans. Katy announced her departure from the singing competition during her interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for Idol,” Katy Perry shared. “I mean, I love Idol so much. It’s connecting me with the heart of America. But, I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat; you know what I’m saying, Jimmy?”

An insider told DailyMail.com that showrunners approached Taylor Swift. They’re sure that she will end up with the job. Even though they claim that “every option is on the table,” the producers want someone who’s a “firecracker.”

“She will be offered the job,” the insider told the outlet. “That is a long shot. They are just thinking about what would be the best-case scenario, namely to get the biggest star in the world. But they aren’t holding their breath on getting Taylor.”

Other Stars Could Join American Idol

Another source spoke to DailyMail.com about other stars who could join the show. They think that either Jennifer Lopez could fill Katy Perry’s role. She announced that she’s no longer making music.

Jennifer concluded her career with a project called This is Me…Now, which included a musical film and documentary.

“A return from the past is on the cards,” the source said. “J.Lo will be asked to come back. When people come back, things work… people like nostalgia, and people like Jen. It would be a big get to get her back.”

Meanwhile, another source told The U.S. Sun that producers are considering Shania Twain as another replacement.

“They are looking at several options for replacing Katy,” the source explained. “Names like Jennifer Lopez and Shania Twain… are in the frame because they have worked on the show before and are ‘safe’ faces, but there is a push for Miley.”
