During the most recent season of The Curse of Oak Island, the show has spent a lot of time talking about Vikings. Their theory is that Vikings assisted the Knights Templar and hid a treasure long ago.
Still, the Oak Island guys have seemingly finally found physical proof that a treasure exists, which has had viewers buzzing during their 12th season.
A Theory Turns Into Reality On Oak Island
The crew located some treasures linked to Viking history, mere weeks after they embarked on a trip to learn more about North American Vikings’ history. The team traveled to L’Anse aux Meadows a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Newfoundland, Canada.
It is the only North American location that has verification that Vikings had once settled there, which occurred approximately in the year, 1,000. Interestingly enough, the area is only 600 miles from Oak Island. This is the second trip the team took to find out more about Viking connections.
In Episode 2 of this season, they found a Roman coin, the subsequent show after that, they discovered evidence that there was a Viking settlement on the land.

Still, as the team continued to dig, during a recent show, Episode 5, they found something major.
As they explored other parts of the island, including Smith’s Cove and Lot 5, they stumbled across various artifacts, which allowed them to come up with a number of theories that led them discover more history on the island.
The Curse of Oak Island’s Executive Producer, Joe Lessard told TV Insider that, “The observation that it could be an ancient place of worship, and have archaeologists not dismiss it as a possibility, is more than intriguing. That’s why the dig must continue to figure it out.”
During Episode 5, which was titled “Concrete Evidence,” many fans believed it would offer ‘concrete evidence’, although it ended up just being a play on words when the team found a flat concrete slab, as well as rocks and wood fragments. Still, it does seem as if the crew is on the cusp of something big
