The Golden Bachelor has turned into the show that keeps producing drama and scandals. And now Nick Viall has offered his own take on how Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner began dating immediately after his late wife’s death.

Gerry Turner told viewers on the Golden Bachelor that he did not resume dating after the death of his late wife. But new reports have revealed a very different story. And Nick Viall told Page Six his insights on the Golden Bachelor controversy surrounding 72-year-old Turner.

“It’s tough to watch an entire season of Gerry selling this entire narrative that all he’s been doing since the passing of his wife was cry, play pickle ball and occasionally [have] this weird one-on-one moment with some hand lotion,” mocked the Viall Files podcast host, 43. Nick also fronted The Bachelor in 2017 for the show’s 21st season. “And in reality, we come to find out that the body was barely cold before he started dating,” he added.

Because of the contrast between what Turner said on the Golden Bachelor and what a new report revealed, “it opens up a lot of questions about what was going on,” pointed out Nick. And a recent exposé claimed that Gerry lied about his past.

Viewers watched Turner on the Golden Bachelor give his final rose to now-fiancée Theresa Nist. And both fans and Theresa believed Turner for claiming he never dated seriously after his wife died.

However, an anonymous ex girlfriend named Carolyn claimed Gerry actually dated a live-in gal pal for three years. And he began dating her soon after his wife died. However, that contradicts Turner telling viewers that he hadn’t kissed anyone since his wife’s 2017 death.

And Viall noted, “The show itself sometimes tries to craft a narrative about their leads that even the leads are a little uncomfortable with.” And he admitted that cast members in the Bachelor franchise may feel “I’m not that squeaky clean.” But he pointed out that the show sets up the narrative.

“Because no one really is” that perfect, added Nick. “So I think sometimes that is the fault of the show, this kind of narrative. He was allowed to date. He didn’t cheat on anyone from what we know.” 

However, the new report also quoted Turner’s ex gal pal Carolyn as gaining weight, causing Turner to reject her. Gerry allegedly would not go to her high school reunion because of her weight gain. “I’m not taking you to the reunion looking like that,” Carolyn claimed Turner told her. And their three-year romance then ended.

However, Gerry refused to comment when asked later to explain the contradictions. But Viall urged Turner to apologize. And he even offered a sample script for the Golden Bachelor star to follow.

“Gerry, if you’re listening … he should say is something like: ‘Hey, I’m sorry if I misled anyone about my dating life. It was something I thought a lot about. This is my first time doing it. I didn’t really know what to say’.”
