Gerry Turner and his soon-to-be wife Theresa Nist have been making the rounds of talk shows ahead of the Golden Bachelor live televised wedding next month. And when the Golden Bachelor duo showed up on Kelly Ripa’s talk show, she got blunt in asking Gerry if the show is “faked,” per the Sun.

But when Turner told the truth, viewers and Ripa both reacted in the same way: Shock. Kelly asked the question after a clip showing Theresa, 70, and Gerry, 72, amid his proposal on the Golden Bachelor. 

The scene revealed Turner dramatically telling Nist, “You’re not the right person for me to live with.” And he then paused for so long that Theresa believed he had rejected her. But then Gerry finally added, “You’re the person I can’t live without.”

As a result of that lengthy pause, Kelly noted, “We just saw the clip of the moment. And Theresa, you were all of us. I was like, ‘Oh this is such a weird clip for us to use.’ We all thought you were getting the brush off.”

Because of that dramatic break before the proposal, Ripa asked Turner, “Do the producers force you to do that? [Do] they make you drag it on like that and keep us all in suspense?”

And Gerry confessed that the producers pushed him into the manipulative moment. “They suggested it would be really great TV,” he admitted. But he claimed that the Golden Bachelor producers “didn’t realize it would be horrible to Theresa.”

However, Theresa admitted that she felt upset during that lengthy pause. And she called her future husband “so mean” for participating in the producer-manipulated scene.

On January 4, Gerry and Theresa’s wedding will air live. And the newlyweds will then fly to Italy to celebrate their honeymoon, a gift amid the Golden Bachelor finale. After that, the couple will reside in Charleston, South Carolina.

But amid preparations, Turner headed to social media to post his wedding song playlist. Gerry’s playlist supposedly includes Dua Lipa, Latto, Pink, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift. However, the Golden Bachelor star shared that his first dance wish list included Celine Dion’s The Power of Love and Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You.

But fans mocked that playlist, speculating that someone on the Golden Bachelor created it. For instance, one critic wrote, “Someone else made this up. Where are all the songs from the 60s to the 80s?” And another asked, “Are your granddaughters choosing the songs?!”

However, others argued that the list didn’t seem authentic. And one critic pointed out, “Two people born when they were would be mixing in songs from the 70s as well as some old classics. Maybe Michael Buble singing Home or The Way You Look Tonight. Don’t do something unclassy please!!! After all the efforts that went into the first ever Golden Couple.”
