The Golden Bachelor spoilers reveal that leading man Gerry Turner claims to have discovered his true love. But some fans think that Turner comes off as a fraud and a player.
And others question if ABC trained Turner all too well to portray a lovable widower seeking his perfect match from the 22 women on the Golden Bachelor. Keep reading to learn two reasons why some viewers think Turner seems like a phony.
Golden Bachelor Spoilers – Who Does Gerry Turner Love?
In late September, ABC took a risk in featuring 72-year-old Gerry Turner as the star of The Golden Bachelor. And the widower shared his search for love from the 22 female contestants between ages 60 and 75.
However, a controversy has grown per TV Insider on if Turner fakes his altruism and nice-guy personality.
And viewers raised concern after hearing Gerry share his love for different women. How could the Golden Bachelor star truly love Leslie, a 64-year-old fitness instructor from Minneapolis, Minnesota, as well as Faith, a 60-year-old high school teacher? And after cutting out the latter, Turner kept his search going.
But after proclaiming his love for Leslie and Faith, then Turner headed to the fantasy suite dates with finalists Leslie and Theresa, a 70-year-old financial services professional. And the Golden Bachelor star once again shared his love for two women.
Golden Bachelor Spoilers – Gerry Turner Changes Story
But claims that Turner behaves like a fraud and a player have soared for two reasons. First, the Golden Bachelor star seemed so determined to tell multiple women that he loved them. And second, Gerry switched up his story about what happened in the fantasy suites.
But Turner has announced that it’s “nobody’s f***ing business” what happens in those suites. However, he also insisted in one interview that he planned the suite dates to differ dramatically from the other Bachelor shows. For instance, Gerry planned to encourage his dates “to share stuff about their kids and grandkids.”
But despite that plan, Turner turned around and behaved more like a star on the other Bachelor shows. And Gerry also made some controversial comments during an appearance on Kelly Ripa’s talk show. Kelly questioned the Golden Bachelor about falling in love with multiple women.
And Gerry shared that he did love each woman. But then he proclaimed the journey to represent discovering the one “you can’t live without.” And Turner added, “With each of those women, they had such wonderful personalities; they were each different and unique in their own way. And to love them, I can openly admit to that, but I also know that there was only one by the end of it; clearly, that is the one I couldn’t live without.”
But does that ideally worded response represent Turner’s true views? Or did ABC coach the Golden Bachelor star on what to say? Tell us what you think. And after you share your views, check back on our site for more reality TV news.

True love happens when it happens; the path can be long or short. On the way to searching for his true love, Gerry probably had several close encounters—that’s the purpose of this show; and by design, it’s set up to provide opportunities the average single person would spend lots of time arranging. Even when we learn of his final decision, there’s no guarantee that the relationship will stand the test of time. Good luck, Gerr. Hope you find “the one!”
Thoughtful perceptive ! Thanks, Carol !
I think he’s a fine actor; the women seem genuine, and I hope they were handsomely paid for this Gerry charade.
Some people fall in love for the wrong reasons. Truthfully, can you fall in love with someone on your first date? It can certainly happen, because it happened to me) but it is very unusual. Being together with all those lovely woman, can make a man very unsure of himself. They all had their own personalities and each one brought something that he loved about them. He really needs more time to think about his decision.
Well, it’s certainly not the first scandal to hit Bach Nation. The sad thing is, people leave jobs, family and friends for these opportunities of finding a soul mate. The network and the producers need to do a better job of vetting these people. Yes, they do the criminal background checks and mental health evaluations, but they never seem to be able to uncover these types of things in their personal history. So it begs to question if the network and producers actually knew about it and didn’t care, because he made for a great story. If something comes out, eh, we’ll deal with it. Who cares who gets hurt in the process. What’s best for ratings. It’s wrong. The women deserve better. Full transparency and total honesty means nothing on this show.
Janitor is after Theresa for her money. Hope she gets prenup and has assets in trust for her family.
