Todd And Julie Chrisley Will Appeal Prison Sentences: Here’s What That Means

Todd Chrisley feels determined to do what he can to avoid his lengthy prison sentences. And as always, Julie Chrisley supports the Chrisley Knows Best patriarch. As a result, the two reality TV stars have decided to appeal.

But the appeal doesn’t necessarily mean that they can escape some time behind bars. Find out what an expert shared about Todd and Julie’s appeal. And learn whether it could affect their immediate future. Get all the details below.

Todd Chrisley – To Avoid Prison Via Appeal?

Julie and Todd Chrisley may have hoped to stay out of prison completely by appealing. However, it could turn into a lengthy process. And it won’t keep them away from life behind bars.

So what does their future look like? In the wake of fraud-related convictions, Todd earned a 12-year prison sentence. And Julie got a 7-year prison sentence. Both Chrisley Knows Best stars also received 16 months probation.

As a result, Todd and Julie must report to Florida prisons on January 17. And their daughter Lindsie Chrisley’s lawyer, Musa Ghanayem, told People how the appeals process could change the Chrisley Knows Best stars’ future. When the two head to prison, the appeals process will take place separately.

Chrisley Knows – Best Attorney Explains Stars’ Appeal

And the lawyer shared the details of the appeal process. “The appeals process, if they go to prison, will continue to go on,” he noted. However, “if some judge, at some point, chooses to grant an appellate bond where they can remain on bond while they are in the process of their appeal, that can be done as well. But I’m not sure if the status of that exists or if it’s been requested.”

However, Ghanayem explained that the appellate bond route does offer the potential for a more optimistic future. “But that is a possibility,” added the attorney about the bond outlook. And he then elaborated on what the legal road to freedom would hold for Julie and Todd Chrisley.

“The legal process would be if a new trial was ordered, they’d have to go through the whole process again,” he shared. “If there was an issue that was incorrect, it can be sent back down to be correct. Typically, the appellate panel will make a decision, make a ruling, and sometimes send it back down to enforce that ruling.” And it can get even more complicated. For instance, Ghanayem revealed that motions can exist “that have yet to be ruled on while sentencing is already over.”

But for Todd and Julie’s daughter Lindsie, watching the legal process has felt painful. And she denies that her parents received justice. “I have always had faith in our criminal justice system,” declared Lindsie. “But watching my parents and how all of this played out, this case completely destroyed any faith that I had in the criminal justice system.”
