The Chrisley Knows Best alumni will have their oral arguments appeal heard in court. Julie Chrisley is serving five years in prison for bank fraud, among other white-collar crimes.
Todd Chrisley was convicted of tax evasion and fraud. This came amid the allegations that the couple conspired to defraud the U.S.
Savannah Chrisley has been using her platform to share her parents’ experiences. She spoke out about the prison conditions and has fought on their behalf. Todd is currently serving a 12-year sentence. Meanwhile, Julie was given a seven-year sentence behind bars.
The couple must also pay $17.2 million in restitution fees. They’ve been trying to do everything to shorten their prison sentences. Their attorneys filed their appeal, which the court accepted. It’s rare for oral arguments to be granted on an appeal.
Julie and Todd Chrisley maintain their innocence. They blame Mark Braddock who was the manager of their real estate business. They claim that he lied to avoid prosecution.
The Chrisleys filed an appeal because of the claims against them. An investigator claimed they never paid their taxes. There was also a search conducted on a warehouse that didn’t have a warrant.
Their Hopes For The Appeal Revealed
According to a new report via The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Todd and Julie Chrisley hope their attorneys will convince the judge that their “three-week trial and subsequent sentencing in 2022 were flawed for several reasons.”
In addition, Julie Chrisley’s hopes for “an acquittal on the five bank fraud charges that she was convicted of, and [resentencing] on five other counts.”
If Julie wins the appeal on the restitution, her husband Todd Chrisley will also get a shorter sentence. The couple an IRS officer lied about them not paying their taxes.
Todd did end up winning a case against Joshua Waites, the lead of the investigation into their tax situation. In addition, the couple’s case in Georgia also turned in their favor.
