‘Love Is Blind’ – Reunion Sparks Vanessa Lachey Slams: Here’s Why

When the Love Is Blind season 4 reunion special aired, Vanessa Lachey made some remarks that got viewers cringing. And in particular, she questioned why none of the successful couples on the show have welcomed babies into the world. For instance, Lachey shared, “Auntie Vanessa is still hoping for that ‘Love is Blind’ baby,” noted USA Today.

And social media heated up in response. For example, one viewer asked, “Did anyone else find it wildly inappropriate how hard Vanessa Lachey was pushing the baby thing? Talk about insensitive and invasive. I’m so sick of this narrative that a baby equates to a successful relationship.”

And another viewer shared their own struggle with infertility. After dealing with infertility struggles “for so long and [shedding] so many tears,” Vanessa’s comments hurt the reunion show viewer. And the viewer called the “#loveisblind baby inquisition so insensitive and really uncomfortable.” Experts agreed. And one psychologist described Lachey’s comments as both hurtful and inappropriate for several reasons.

Vanessa Lachey’s ‘- Love Is Blind’ Baby Comments Are ‘Insensitive’

The Love Is Blind reunion host seemed unaware of just how insensitive she seemed. And Vanessa’s comments about welcoming babies into the world came off as “insensitive. Asking when are you going to have kids or when are you going to have more kids is never OK,” summed up T.M. Robinson-Mosley, a counseling psychologist.

“For people and couples coping with infertility, being asked about when you’re having kids can feel like a gut punch,” added Robinson-Mosley. And the psychologist feels that women typically deal the most with “insensitive language use surrounding starting a family. Statements like ‘you aren’t getting any younger’ or ‘your biological clock is ticking’ really insinuates that a woman’s primary  purpose is to procreate.”

And other therapists agreed. For example, marriage counselor Loree Johnson described pregnancy as “deeply personal and dependent on life factors that are important to the individual.” And another therapist, Moe Ari Brown, noted, “Many people may be concerned about the state of the world and don’t want to bring children into it. They may be worried about climate change, war or other future challenges that children will face and don’t want their children to experience those harsh realities.”
