Betty White Dead At 99, Beloved Golden Girl and Iconic Actor

Beloved Comedian and funny girl Betty White passed away today of what is presumed to be natural causes. Betty was not sick nor did she have any known ailments. Betty has rarely left her home since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

White’s Career Spanned 8 Decades

Law Enforcement said that White passed away at approximately 9:30 a.m. Friday morning. White was a pioneer in the entertainment industry. Betty had the longest-running career of any woman in show business before her death. Betty’s career began in 1939 and has spanned 80 years. Betty’s most famous role is probably Rose Nylund from the “Golden Girls.” The “Golden Girls” lasted from 1985 to 1992 which White co-starred with Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty. Rose’s portrayal of the blonde from Saint Olaf, Minnesota. Rose’s story of her life in Saint Olaf on the farm still has fans laughing in syndication today.

Betty White Started In Radio

Betty started out in radio appearing in “Blondie” in the 1940s, also appearing in “The Great Gildersleeve,” and “This Is Your FBI.” Betty was so good that she eventually got her own radio program. Betty began working with Al Jarvis on “Hollywood On Television”, a tv variety show which she later co-hosted. Eventually, Betty broke into other television roles. The “Mary Tyler Moore Show” offered White her breakout role when she was cast as Sue Ann Nivens in 1973, which ended in 1977. White later got the starring role in “The Betty White Show.”

Over 100 Credits To Her Name

White’s career ends with over 115 credits to her name. Betty co-starred in shows such as “Life with Elizabeth,” “Date with the Angels,” “The Love Boat,” “Mama’s Family,” “The Golden Palace,” “Ladies Man,” “That ’70s Show,” “Higglytown Heroes,” “Boston Legal,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Pound Puppies,” “Hot in Cleveland,” Betty had so many roles that it is difficult to list them all. However, she had many, many, roles in her time. To her credit, Betty won 5 prime-time Emmy Awards. Betty won two Emmys for her role in the “Mary Tyler Moore Show”, one Emmy for her role in “Golden Girls”, as well as one Emmy for her 1975 role on Saturday Night Live. Betty also has Screen Actors Guild Awards and American Comedy Awards and even won another Emmy in 2012. Betty also received the Lifetime Achievement Award as well as many other nominations.

Just shy of her 100th birthday, which would have been January 17, White made the headlines this week in an interview with People speaking of Ryan Reynolds who she co-starred with in The Proposal. White said, “I’ve heard Ryan [Reynolds] can’t get over his thing for me.” Ryan jokingly responded on Twitter … “I’m absolutely sick of the media exploiting past relationships just to drive clicks.” In 2012 White even joked with TMZ about launching her Facebook page.
