Degrassi: The Next Generation Actor Jahmil French Dead At 29

Tahmil French, a Canadian actor that is best known for portraying Dave Turner in “Degrassi: The Next Generation”, was confirmed dead on Monday. He would have celebrated his 30th birthday, a little over four months from now, in July. The news of his passing was confirmed by his agent Gabrielle Kachman.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of a dear friend and client Jahmil French,” Kachman revealed. “He will be remembered by many for his passion for the arts, his commitment to his craft, and his vibrant personality. I ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”

His Legacy

Jahmil French has starred in a number of shows. His most recognized work being his role in Degrassi, for which he was nominated for the Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series at the Canadian Screen Awards launched in 2013.

He was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the sixth Canadian Screen Awards that took place in 2018. Movies he has starred in include infamous(2016) and At First Light (2018).

Safran, who had worked with French on the short-lived Netflix musical drama series “Soundtrack” posted about his death on Twitter, writing, “I can confirm my good friend, co-worker, and all around inspiration, Jahmil French, passed away yesterday. Only posting because I see the story getting out there. I will have more to say about him later. Right now we’re all just processing this devastating news.”
