The Armani Group’s Statement

The Armani Group released the following statement about the iconic designer:

“Il Signor Armani, as he was always respectfully and admiringly called by employees and collaborators, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.”

The statement went on to say, “In this company, we have always felt like part of a family. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication.”

In addition, “But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love.”

Armani’s Legacy

The influence Armani had in the fashion industry and Hollywood within his decades-long career extends to today, with his pieces remaining classic and timeless, no matter what era they had been designed in.

In addition to fashion, Armani has other accolades that contributed to his legacy, including being named Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2021, which is one of the highest honors of the country.

In addition, he accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Last, but not least, in 2002, Armani became a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN’s refugee agency, UNHCR.

Armani was a known sports fan. In 2008, he purchased Olimpia Milano, Italy’s most successful basketball team. He also launched a sports apparel brand, EA7, inspired by the jersey number of Andriy Shevchenko, a Ukrainian soccer player, who was once Milan’s striker. He also designed the Italian team’s uniforms for the Olympic Games in London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016, and Tokyo 2020.

This past June, the designer was not at the Men’s Fashion Week in Milan, making it the first time in his career to miss this event. At the time, Armani Group released a statement noting he was recovering at home; however, it did not mention the health condition he was suffering from.

On behalf of everyone here, CTS extends its condolences to Armani’s family, friends, peers, loved ones, and fans.
