According to TMZ Sports “Medics were dispatched to the WWE icon’s Clearwater, Florida home early Thursday morning … with operators stating it was regarding a “cardiac arrest.”
Hulk, whose legal name was Terry Bollea, came on the scene in the 80’s but his relevance endured, as he was the centerpiece of the 2024 Republican National Convention with his flair for the theatrical.
Cardiac Arrest Call for Hulk Hogan
The outlet reports that Pinellas County Fire and EMS descended upon Hogan’s home: “a slew of police cars and EMTs were parked outside Hogan’s home … and he was carried on a stretcher and into an ambulance.”
Law enforcement told TMZ that officials were on scene at 9:51 AM and Hogan was treated by Clearwater Fire & Rescue before being transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A press conference is scheduled for later in the day on Thursday, July 24.

Ironically, “Just a few weeks ago, Hogan’s wife, Sky, whom he married in September 2023, denied rumors he was in a coma … stating his heart was “strong” as he recovered from surgeries.”

TMZ added that they broke the story last month that “there were rumblings Hogan was on his “deathbed” … but we were told at the time he was just dealing with the symptoms of a neck procedure he underwent in May.”
Hulk’s contribution to the world of pro wrestling cannot be underestimated as he opened up the traditionally rowdy event to a mass, family audience with his wholesome, comic persona.

Hulk Hogan Transformed WWE
Prior to Hulk Hogan, wrestling was seen as a crude, rambunctious affair with bad guys theatrically beating each other up. In contrast, fair haired Hogan, with his trademark bandana “were magnetic for children and their parents, and it supercharged the sport.”
Eventually Hogan created “Hulkamania” after defeating the Iron Sheik for the World Heavyweight Championship in 1984.
In 1996, Hulk underwent a transformation from ring hero to villain when he created the NWO — New World Order leading to “Hollywood Hulk Hogan.”
Hogan’s notable appearances included a faceoff with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania X8 in 2002 and a challenge with Andre the Giant at WM 3. The soap opera-esque vibe was further enhanced with “memorable feuds with Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage.”
Hulk was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 but removed in 2015 “after a scandal erupted over racists comments while he was being secretly recorded during a sexual encounter. Gawker posted the clip and Hulk subsequently sued, winning the lawsuit.”
In 2020 he was inducted a second time as a member of NWO.
WWE’s statement on Hogan’s death reads in part: “One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
Hulk branched out into movies, appearing in “Rocky III,” “No Holds Barred,” “Suburban Commando” and “Mr. Nanny” as well as the VH1 reality show, “Hogan Knows Best,” with his family.
