Kirk Douglas Dead – Legendary Actor and Father of Michael Douglas Was 103

The entertainment business has just lost a legend. Kirk Douglas has passed away at the ripe old age of 103. His acting career, which spanned over 60 years, made him a household name. He is also the father of actor Michael Douglas. Keep reading to find out more.

Kirk Douglas’ Health

The actor’s health has begun to decline during the past several years. In 1996, he had a stroke. However, he was able to recover quite nicely. He hasn’t really been seen out and about though since April 2019.
Michael Douglas Announces Father’s Death

According to People magazine, Micahel Douglas released a statement about Kirk’s death. He said,

“It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today… To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard of us all to aspire to.”

Husband, Father, Grandfather

Even though to the world, he was a legendary actor in the entertainment business and a household name, he was something else too. To his loved ones, he was a doting husband, a loving father and a wonderful grandfather. He was also considered to be a great father-in-law.

Kirk Douglas’ History

Before signing up for the Navy in 1941, Douglas was in some Broadway productions. After he was discharged from the military, he returned to the stage. However, as fans know, his true calling was being in the movies.

His credits include Touched By an Angel, Tales From the Crypt, Queenie, The Final Countdown, There Was a Crooked Man, Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In and Lonely Are the Brave. His first acting credit was The Strange Love of Martha Ivers in 1946. His last was in 2008 with Empire State Building Murders.
