NHL Star Johnny Gaudreau Passes Away At The Age Of 31

The National Hockey League (NHL)’s Columbus Blue Jackets confirmed via social media on Friday, August 30th that one of their teammates has passed on via a statement. Hockey star Johnny Gaudreau has died at the age of 31, as well as his brother Matthew.

More Information On NHL Star Johnny Gaudreau Death

While there’s not much information around the cause of Johnny’s passing, the statement posted on social media by the NHL Blue Jackets confirms both Johhny and his brother Matthew’s deaths.

The team revealed they were both “shocked” and “devasted” by the unimaginable tragedy and asked for prayers and privacy for the Gaudreau family.

In the social media statement, Johnny was described as a great hockey player, but more significantly a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

The team extended their condolences to his wife and his two children Noa and Johnny plus his parents, family, and friends.

The statement went on to talk about how Johnny played the game of hockey, with great joy, that “was felt by everyone that saw him on the ice.”

It notes the love he had for hockey and details his hockey career from Boston College to the Calgary Flames, as well as his time on Team USA, and eventually the Blue Jackets. The statement added that Gaudreau “thrilled fans” in a way only “Johnny Hockey” could.

It added that the impact Johnny made on the sport and their organization was profound; however, the team stated it “pales in comparison” to the impact the hockey star made on everyone who knew him.

Number 13 on the Columbus Blue Jackets, Johnny Gaudreau last played on NHL ice during the second-period hockey game on Saturday, April 13 of this year, when his team faced the Nashville Predators.
