Ozzy Osbourne’s Legacy
Of course, Osbourne’s claim to fame is Black Sabbath, the rock band he established in 1968 along with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler , and Bill Ward.
In fact, his passing occurred merely weeks after he and the band performed for the last time. The group has received multiple awards over the years, including two Grammys and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2006.
Ozzy was kicked out of the group in 1979 due to his substance abuse addiction, an issue he struggled with for years. He did have a successful solo singing career, where he released 13 albums, with the first eight hitting platinum in the U.S.
He met his wife Sharon in 1970, who helped Osbourne fight his battle with drug and alcohol addictions, and the two said their, “I do’s” in 1982. They also became reality TV royalty with the show, “The Osbournes,” that ran from 2002 to 2005, with a total of four seasons, 52 episodes
Osbourne is survived by Sharon, his kids, and a number of grandchildren. On behalf of everyone here, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, Ozzy’s friends, peers, and fans.
