Robert De Niro’s – Grandson Dies At 19

Actress Drena De Niro shared her heartbreak over the death of her son Leandro De Niro Rodriguez on Instagram. The 51-year-old daughter of Robert De Niro poured out her emotions on social media. And she included her son’s father, Carlos Mare, in her Instagram post, according to People.

“My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly,” wrote Drena. And she described her late son as “my joy, my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now,” added the actress.

And Drena confessed, “I don’t know how to live without you. But I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama. You were so deeply loved and appreciated,” she added. “And I wish that love alone could have saved you. I’m so sorry my baby.” Tagging her son’s father, Drena finished her tribute with the words, “Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.”

After Robert De Niro’s daughter shared her tragedy on Instagram, her loved ones responded with support. For instance, director Lee Daniels posted, “Drena may GOD keep you in his arms.” And actress Rosie Perez wrote, “Shocked! I’m so sorry! We are all here for you !!! I love you too [sic] much!”

The actress did not share the cause of death in her Instagram tribute to her son. However, a spokesperson for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information revealed that a male teenager “was found unconscious, unresponsive and was pronounced deceased by EMS on scene.” The police received a 911 call at 2:23 p.m. on Sunday.

Drena recently posted pics of herself and her son Leandro to celebrate Mother’s Day. And she wrote about their “good day.” The oldest of De Niro’s seven children, Drena’s mother is the actor’s first wife, actress Diahnne Abbott. The actor revealed in May that his girlfriend Tiffany Chen welcomed his seventh child. And the couple named the little girl Gia.
