There’s no doubt that for the last several years Kate Middleton was the reigning Queen of royal fashion. Each and every time the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out, her fashion choices made fashionistas swoon on both sides of the pond. In fact, the ‘Kate Effect’ also helped boost many brands as whatever Kate Middleton wore sold out in shops and online in a matter of seconds. Meghan Markle tried to do the same with her unique royal style and favorite brands too, but it didn’t work to her advantage. After all, there can only be one royal fashion queen in the family and that title has already gone to Kate.

#3 Meghan Was Too Fast-Paced For Kate

Meghan Markle made it no secret from the very beginning that she was ready to hit the ground running when it came to her royal engagements and public appearances, and this was even before she got married to Prince Harry. For Kate Middleton, Meghan might have been just a little too fast-paced for the Duchess. Meghan’s eagerness to make a difference and possibly even change things within the royal family might have rubbed Kate the wrong way, seeing how she was already familiar with the game long before anyone even knew Meghan’s name.

While no one can say this for sure, there’s a possibility that Meghan Markle might have tried to steal Kate Middleton’s thunder. It didn’t take very long for the media to fall in love – and then ultimately turn their backs – on the Duchess of Sussex. Soon after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married in 2018, the media was fixated in all things Meghan. For Kate Middleton, it must have been tough standing in her sister-in-law’s shadow, knowing that it is supposed to be the other way around.

Let’s face it: Kate Middleton is the future Queen Consort of England, and if there’s one person who deserves to be in the spotlight, it’s her and not an ex-Hollywood actress who married into the royal family faster than anyone before. At least, that’s what royal critics believe. There’s speculation that Meghan Markle might have tried a little too hard to become the new star of the royal family and that ended up backfiring on her instead.

For the Duchess of Cambridge, she knows that the key is finding the right balance when it comes to public exposure. You don’t want to be seen too much but you also don’t want to be seen too little. While Meghan Markle certainly still has a lot to learn about the ins and outs of royal life, Kate has been there, done that, and as they say, keeping calm and carrying on, as one should do.
