One Buckingham Palace source says that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can finally rest easy because their home sweet home no longer needs the fixer upper that it did several months back. As a matter of fact, the palace is also sharing a breakdown of the funds that went into the entire renovation process. A lot of fans will be surprised to find out that Harry and Meghan had to fork over some of their own cash to make a few things happen, too.
According to People Magazine, Harry and Meghan made sure to change a few things to the landscaping of the property. They also redecorated the exterior doors, windows and walls and upgraded some of the outbuildings. They’ve also re-landscaped the back garden and added some extra garden lighting, too.
And while the majority of the renovations were covered by the British taxpayer (to the tune of about $3 million, no less), an insider says that anything “moveable” on in the cottage gardens were paid from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s pockets. In other words, they had to dig into their pockets to buy all of the furniture and accessories.
Right now both Harry and Meghan are enjoying as much quality time as possible with their little tot, Archie Harrison at Frogmore Cottage. They welcomed their new bundle of joy back on May 6thand according to some reports, Meghan expects to be on her maternity leave until at least the end of the summer. But seeing how she’s now living in a beautifully renovated cottage, we are pretty sure that the Duchess of Sussex isn’t complaining. She’s got everything she now needs: a beautiful home, a loving husband and an adorable little son. Life can’t get any better for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, right?
