Plenty of news currently arrives about the royal family because King Charles made a speech to honor what would have been Queen Elizabeth’s 100th birthday, and that prompted a chat about her former dresser, Angela Kelly. Read on to find out why.
A Close Bond
Neil Sean, royal commentator, raised some interesting points about Kelly during his Daily News Headlines vlog on YouTube on Wednesday night. While he claimed that the dresser didn’t get on with Meghan Markle, apparently, she was just fine with Prince William and his wife, Princess Catherine.
Then, he talked about how Angela Kelly and Queen Elizabeth formed a close bond over many years. Sean claimed that Kelly was a “tough” Liverpudlian who “took no nonsense.” Well, it seems that the queen liked that because per the expert, they formed a real attachment.
How Is That Relevant Now?
What has this got to do with King Charles giving a speech? Well, Sean claimed that the monarchy made a “huge mistake” after the queen died. Apparently the dresser and confidant of the queen ended up sidelined.
Allegedly, a promise of “a home for life on the Windsor estate” never happened. Instead, King Charles “purchased a house for her near her family back up in Sheffield.” However, what bothered the royal expert is The Firm didn’t invite her to the celebrations honoring Queen Elizabeth’s life on her centenary.
A New Royal TV Show?
That criticism wasn’t the end of the story though. According to Neil Sean, TV bosses look closely at the story of Angela Kelly. Not that it might come directly from her, because the royal expert noted, they “do not need her permission” because her story’s already “in the public domain.”
How can they do it? Well, as an example, Sean talked about a movie about “Max Miller” in 1960. In that movie, producers changed the character’s name, thereby avoiding legal trouble. Similarly, producers could call it something else and say it was loosely based on real events.
Obviously if it’s true, that could potentially be another headache for the royal family as “a negative portrayal.” He said the story “is begging to be told with or without the royals.”
A Backfire?
Might sidelining Angela Kelly backfire now? Sean ended by suggesting that already, someone works on “a screenplay.” And even if they hate the idea, it would be very difficult for The Firm to prevent it.
Well, rumors arrived that they weren’t all that happy about the way things were depicted in The Crown, so that backs up the theory that the descendants of Queen Elizabeth might not jump for joy about another TV show.

In the comments section, plenty of people had something to say. One of them opined, “She was a true friend to Queen Elizabeth and should be given recognition for that by being included.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- Angela Kelly should have been invited to the late Queen’s birthday celebration.
- It was a huge mistake not to invite Angela Kelly, highly disrespectful and I’m sure hurtful.
- I hope Angela writes a book about the Queen even if it’s published posthumously.
- If the book and movie are going to be developed then Angela should tell the story, it’s hers to tell and no one else’s.
Of course, Angela already wrote books, and one of them was titled The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe. However, that was fully authorised by the Queen.
