Speaking to Page Six in an interview, British PR expert Mark Borkowski believes that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could certainly cash in on their new, independent and very non-royal lifestyles. In fact, he has even suggested that Harry himself could make up to $500,000 a speech as long as the demand is high.
“With the kind of work that Meghan and Harry want to do, they have to be free from palace protocol and politics,” Borkowski told the site. “You can’t speak out properly with the Palace breathing down your neck.”
With that said, there’s even a possibility that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might follow the Kardashian family business model when it comes to cashing in on their fame and their brand. However, Borkowski says that he hopes the ex-royals will be very careful in the decisions that they make and that they won’t end up embarrassing themselves at the end of the day.
“There is a very clever way of being Kardashian-like. People joke about the Kardashians, but look at their enormous value,” the expert said. “Meghan and Harry are clearly connected to a lot of money, they have a fantastic platform. But it needs to be the right money. They can’t be seen to make money from oligarchs and Middle Eastern princes.”
So far both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made no comments about their future or what their next step will be. Right now the couple is settling into their new life in Vancouver, as they plan to make the city their new home base. It was previously reported that the Sussexes are hoping to spend half the year in North America and the other half back in Harry’s native London. There’s always a chance that Meghan might also spend a lot of time back in Los Angeles, where her mother Doria Ragland, currently resides.
