Australian Politicians Branded “Embarrassing” For Choosing Not To Officially Acknowledge King Charles' VisitTo visit Australia and Samoa for the first time as the reigning monarch, King Charles chose to halt his cancer treatment for 11 whole days. And yet the reception the country’s politicians are giving him is far from being a warm one.

Despite being planned for months in advance, the country’s politicians are choosing to announce that they are otherwise engaged.

Australian Journalist Lashes Out At the Country’s Politicians For Their “Embarassing” Move

King Charles and Queen Camilla will soon be jetting off to Australia to commence their tour of the nation.

However, this tour is marked in controversies as the country’s politicians hint that the country would love to depart from the rule of the British Monarchy. Charles has chosen not to resist this.

Rather, he puts it up to the people to decide. Speaking on the country’s politicians’ decision to ignore the King and Queen’s visit, Aussie journalist Sophie Elsworth warned that it’s “not a good look for the country.”

Elsworth explained: “The leaders of our six states here have got other commitments and won’t be meeting with King Charles on Monday. And it’s really quite embarrassing because the King’s visit has been in the works for some months now. They should have cleared their schedules, because I think it’s highly appropriate that they do meet with him. He is our head of state.”

Noting how significant this trip is, especially considering the King’s indifferent health, she opined that it would have been the right thing for delegates to welcome them.

“This is an important visit Down Under. He has not been here with Queen Camilla since 2018 and particularly with his health issues that he is battling. It is the right thing to do to represent our states and visit and meet with him, but they all seem to come up with excuses,” Elsworth added.

Apart from the issue with the politicians, Buckingham Palace has chosen to be a bit mum on the details regarding their itinerary.

She said: “He’s arriving here Australian time on Friday night. He may even show up at the Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday. His schedules are pretty secretive, we only have minimal details on some of the things he will attend, but I think there are people very seriously questioning why the premiers are not making the time to meet with King Charles.”
